I offer 45-55 minute appointment times depending on your availability and level of need. Initial visit/intake appointments are typically 75 minutes. I find it most beneficial if clients can attend sessions weekly for the first 4-6 weeks. Frequency ongoing depends on level of need. Some clients attend sessions for 3-6 months. I offer in person and virtual appointments from my office in Gresham on Mondays and Tuesdays. Wednesdays and Thursdays I am available for virtual appointments only.
During your first session, I hope to get to know you and your goals for counseling. We will work to establish a working relationship where you can begin to feel comfortable and safe to work through your current challenges. Typically, we will discuss family history, any medical challenges, and current issues you are facing. We will also establish our early treatment goals as well as expectations in the relationship.
The Length of the counseling relationship is dependent on the client's level of need and goals of treatment. We will explore what your goals and expectations are at the start of counseling and will reevaluate as the treatment progresses. Some clients experience improvement after just a few sessions, but some have much more complex backgrounds and challenges that will require support for an extended period of time.
The Pregnancy and postpartum journey can have many winding roads. A variety of obstacles and unforseen challenges can occur. This population I am very passionate in supporting, as personally I experienced a variety of challenges in my own perinatal and birthing journey. I have a certification in Perinatal mental health which requires extensive training and ongoing continuing education to maintain the certification.
Walking as part of the counseling experience can provide an added benefit to the experience of counseling. It can help regulate the nervous system and provide a more relaxed environment for those who may be intimidated or uncomfortable with an office setting. I provide individual out of pocket sessions where we walk as part of the counseling session in local parks or community walking trails. We will choose a quiet location where your confidentiality can be best preserved.
